Lynn Howson

Founder of FireStarters UK and FireStarters Ambassador

Lynn has been  involved in Christian ministry most of her married life alongside her husband Maurice and their three daughters. Lynn pioneered the ministry of FireStarters in 1996 during a time of being involved with the Kings Kids ministry of YWAM and have led the ministry since then.  There have been many adventures and faith challenges and it has been such a joy to see hundreds of young people gaining confidence in God and in their identity as His songs and daughters. We have also taken the love of God to people in many and varied communities across Scotland. I am also passionate about how God wants to move in the lives of young people across the nation.

As part of our 21st Birthday Celebrations we are excited to be stepping into a new season with FireStarters. Lynn Howson has had the privilege and adventure of leading this amazing ministry from its beginning in 1996, first within Kings Kids YWAM and from 2002 as an independent charity. Today we heard her news that God is moving her into a new season as she felt the nudge from God to say that this year will be her last year of leading the FireStarters weekends. God has led us to two young men who were themselves FireStarters, to consider taking the ministry forward.  Joshua Park and Anthony Allan have now responded to the call of God and have committed to taking the leadership of FireStarters from September 2017.

JOSHUA PARK

Senior Project Manager

I first became involved with FireStarters from the age of 12. FireStarters had a huge impact on my walk with Jesus and it was during this season that my relationship with Him really began to develop. Whilst away from FireStarters I attended university and I got married to Laura, who I met through FireStarters. Together we have a son called Micah who is 18 months old. In 2014 we went to Oxford, New Zealand to complete a DTS with YWAM. It was during this time that our lives were radically changed and the importance of discipleship and intentionally pursuing God in every aspect of our lives became our priority. God has put a passion in my heart to inspire young people to know God more and encourage them to feel confident in who He has made them to be.

ANTHONY ALLAN

Senior Leadership / FireStarters Trustee

I attended FireStarters throughout my teenage years and became a young leader - helping other young people to know God and respond to His voice. After a short break from the organisation, while studying Politics at Glasgow University, I became a trustee on the board and continue to serve in this way today. In 2014, I went to Herrnhut, Germany to complete a Discipleship Training School with YWAM. This was a really important experience for me and it was here that my passion for discipling young people was realised. Along with Joshua Park, I responded to the call to take on the leadership of FireStarters in 2017. For a day job, I work for HMRC as a tax inspector. I am married to Anna - a nurse at the local hospital. In our spare time, we like to climb mountains, explore the countryside and 'potter around' nice villages.
